CalWORKS Assessment Program

The CalWORKs Assessment Program has been in operation since 1988, under a contract with Imperial Valley College and the Imperial County Department of Social Services. It is funded by the Imperial County CalWORKs Program and the contract is renewed on a yearly basis. The program provides CalWORKs Participants with the resources to acquire the knowledge and understanding of their abilities, life skills, and interests which are the primary ingredients for obtaining guidance and direction. These resources enable them to move from unemployment to gainful employment, thus enjoying a better income and a better way of life.
The CalWORKs Assessment Program is a categorically state funded program committed in providing CalWORKs participants with quality vocational assessment services and career guidance. In addition, the program offers HOPE (Helping Obtain Permanent Employment) Workshop that enables participants to achieve success in the workforce.
Assessment Counselors provide participants with a thorough and comprehensive vocational assessment evaluation and assists them in finding accurate vocational training/placement and employment based on their own unique competencies and abilities.
Assessment Services are provided to all CalWORKs participants referred to the program by the Imperial County Department of Social Services.
