The Welcome and Outreach Center connects students to IVC’s services, programs, and opportunities, creating an inclusive and engaging environment.
At Imperial Valley College (IVC), our mission is to make higher education accessible and valuable through a variety of degrees and certificates that support student success. The Welcome and Outreach Center connects students to IVC’s services, programs, and opportunities, creating an inclusive and engaging environment. We empower students to take control of their academic journey, make informed decisions, and stay connected. By focusing on recruitment, retention, and engagement, we are dedicated to helping students succeed now and in the future.
At the Welcome and Outreach Center, we provide full onboarding support to help students transition smoothly. Our services include issuing student IDs (in collaboration with Student Affairs for safety and accuracy), sharing departmental information through cards, infographics, and QR codes for easy access to SEA student services, and offering personalized help with the Student Portal, both in-person and virtually. We also offer guided campus tours and distribute Desert Warrior Shield Planners with key academic dates, mental health resources, and tips for healthy habits
The IVC Promise Program at the Welcome and Outreach Center is dedicated to helping students navigate the financial aid application process. Our team provides clear, accessible information and personalized support to guide students through each step, ensuring they have the resources needed to secure funding for their education. By offering one-on-one assistance and tailored advice, we aim to simplify the application process and empower students to access the financial support they need to achieve their academic goals.
This program is a vital resource for students, particularly those
from local high schools, helping to reduce financial barriers and promote student
success at Imperial Valley College
The First-Year Experience (FYE) Summer Bridge Program at the Welcome and Outreach Center is designed to help incoming high school seniors successfully transition into their first year of community college. This program provides students with early exposure to college life and academic expectations, ensuring they feel prepared and confident as they begin their college journey.
Throughout the summer, students participate in workshops and activities focused on key topics such as study skills, time management, academic expectations, and resources available on campus. Additionally, students are connected with counselors and success coaches who offer personalized guidance, helping them navigate the college application process, course registration, and financial aid.
The FYE Summer Bridge Program also emphasizes building community and fostering connections with peers, faculty, and staff, creating a supportive network for students as they move forward. By providing these valuable resources and experiences before the start of the semester, we aim to ease the transition to college, ensuring students are better prepared to succeed academically, pursue transfer opportunities, and begin their path to future careers.
The Outreach team at Imperial Valley College is dedicated to strengthening connections with local high schools to recruit and support students in their transition to higher education. Our team provides a comprehensive outreach calendar that includes a variety of events, such as registration workshops and informational sessions, designed to assist high school students in navigating the college enrollment process. These initiatives are aimed at ensuring a seamless transition from high school to college, offering valuable guidance and resources to help students succeed academically and make informed decisions about their educational pathways. Through these efforts, we strive to foster a supportive bridge between K-12 education and higher learning, empowering students to take the next step in their academic journeys.
