Meanwhile, please see the listing below on classes that will be relocated no later than Monday September 11. For those 2700 building classes that are not listed here, they will continue online until repairs are complete.

Greetings, Students

I am pleased to report that IVC will be back in full operation on campus tomorrow. However, due to continuing air conditioning issues in the 2700 building, all classes held in that building will be online through the end of this week.

I genuinely appreciate the work of all of our employees who gave up their Labor Day weekend to make this possible. I also want to thank the Imperial Irrigation District for its superb service in restoring our campus's electrical power.

Lennor M. Johnson, Ed.D.

Dear students:

I hope this message finds you well. We want to inform you of an important update regarding campus operations for tomorrow, Tuesday, September 5th.

In response to the ongoing challenges, we are facing on campus, we have made the difficult decision to cancel all classes scheduled for Tuesday, September 5th.

We will be maintaining a skeleton crew of staff on campus to assist students who may come to campus seeking assistance or resources; However, since on campus services will be very limited and many departments may be relocated, students are strongly encouraged to call or access our website zoom links to access services

The decision to cancel classes was not taken lightly. Several areas continue to experience power outages, and some are facing HVAC problems. To avoid confusion and ensure the safety and well-being of our community, we have decided to cancel all classes for the day while we diligently work to address these issues.

Furthermore, we are considering the possibility of moving classes online for the remainder of the week. We have asked faculty to make the necessary adjustments to their courses to facilitate this potential transition to online instruction. Student flexibility and adaptability during this time are greatly appreciated and please watch for further notices on Canvas, student email, Regroup, our official Social Media Channels and our website.

Our goal is to make a final decision regarding the continuation of online classes for the rest of the week by tomorrow afternoon. We understand that these disruptions may cause inconvenience, and we sincerely apologize for any challenges this situation may pose.

We deeply appreciate your patience, understanding, and cooperation as we work tirelessly to resolve the current campus challenges and ensure the safety of our community. Please stay tuned for further updates.

Lennor M. Johnson, Ed.D.

Dear IVC Campus Community,

I hope this message finds you well. We are pleased to inform you that internet access to the campus, which includes access to Canvas, has been restored.

On Friday September 1st, the campus and surrounding areas experienced a severe, surprise, storm that knocked down 13 IID power poles. Those IID power poles also carry the fiber cabling that provides internet to the campus. While IID continues to work on restoring the poles, an alternate path has been established to provide internet to the campus. Canvas and other technology systems that are contingent on a connection between the campus and the internet have been restored.

I would like to thank the entire IT team which has been working diligently over the last two days to re-establish internet connectivity. I would especially like to thank Bobby Moreno, James Arthur and Michael Kahler (ICOE/IVTA) for the many hours they worked over the last two days to re-establish internet connectivity.

Impact on Access:

- All systems should be in normal working order.

Thank you for your Patience:

We understand that system outages can be frustrating, and we greatly appreciate your patience and understanding during the outage.

Associate Vice President, Information Technology

Dear Students,

I hope this message finds you well. I want to provide you with an update regarding the ongoing challenges we are facing in restoring full power to our campus and stabilizing our technological systems, including Canvas.

As of this Saturday afternoon, September 2, 2023, we are still working diligently to address these issues. While we are striving to have all systems up and fully functioning by the time we return on Tuesday, September 5, 2023, we cannot provide a definitive assurance at this moment.

Rest assured that our dedicated IT and Maintenance teams are working around the clock to resolve these challenges as swiftly as possible. We understand the importance of having a stable technological infrastructure for both faculty and students.

During this period of instability, I have requested that all faculty members be flexible and provide necessary exceptions for students who may encounter Canvas-related issues. We understand that these difficulties are beyond our control, and we want to ensure that our students receive the support they need during these trying times.

For the most up-to-date information and progress reports, please continue to monitor email, our official social media outlets and website. We will make every effort to keep you informed as we work toward a resolution.

I want to express my gratitude for your understanding and patience during this challenging period. Your resilience and cooperation are greatly appreciated, and we are committed to resolving these issues as swiftly as possible.

Thank you for your understanding, and we look forward to returning to a fully operational and clean campus by Tuesday.
