Imperial Valley businesses are being urged to hire local and give an Imperial Valley
College student the opportunity to work for them through the college's Career Services
Center.
Those looking to hire an intern or to post a job listing at the college may do so
through the College Central Network Services, a free online resource to promote jobs
and internships to IVC students. Accessible 24/7, the College Central Network allows
students to apply for jobs through the system. The network will collect the applications
for the employer.
Employers also may post to the California Community Colleges Jobs Consortium at no
charge. The consortium is comprised of 45 of the 116 California Community Colleges.
Postings may be made to any or all of these schools, including IVC.

Alejandra Villegas RN, MSN/FNP-C, CNE, and Teresa Santos, MSN, RN, CNE (pictured left
and right respectively) pose with their recently earned Certified Nurse Educator certificates.
During December, Imperial Valley College alumnae Teresa Santos and Alejandra Villegas
became the first faculty members to take and pass a rigorous exam in an exercise that
offered participants standardized methods of clinical and didactic instruction in
nursing education.
Participants were provided information by Dr. Linda Wilson and Dr. Ruth A. Wittmann-Price,
renowned authors in the field of nurse education and certification.
The benefits of this seminar were to standardize Imperial Valley College's approach
to providing instruction through didactic or clinical methods in the nursing department
as well as elevate the already high-caliber teaching practices available to the college's
nursing students.
Santos, MSN, RN, and Villegas, RN, MSN/ FNP-C, are the college's first faculty members
to take and pass the exam, which now enables them to add the nationally recognized
credentials of Certified Nurse Educator to their resumes.
Santos achieved this credentialing status while meeting students' needs as a clinical
instructor, tutor, and as interim simulations coordinator. She also is an active front
line nurse in the community. These accomplishments come while she is enrolled as
a fulltime Doctor of Education student, as well as being a dedicated wife and mother.
Villega achieved this credentialing status while meeting students' needs as a clinical
instructor and tutor, but also as an active mid-level provider in the community as
a Family Nurse Practitioner-Certified. This accomplishment came while she is also
enrolled as a fulltime Doctor of Nursing Practice scholar, as well as being a dedicated
wife and mother.

- Ford representative(s) for the Automotive Advisory Committee.
- This unique opportunity for students comes at a key time as students begin to return
to campus.
Tiffany Tukes, IVC Student Services technician, accepts donations to the IVC Kitchen.
The Student Equity & Achievement Program is home to the IVC Kitchen and recently had
an outpouring of support from IVC employees to help make a difference in the lives
of our most vulnerable students.
IVC Kitchen served more than 160 households (a total of 657 people) at its monthly
food distribution March 25. Even more households were helped at the April 14 distribution
with 180 households served, or 776 people.
IVC Trustee Steven Taylor recently provided a donation for the IVC Kitchen's Grab
N' Go Program.
Weekly Basic Needs Distributions take place by appointment from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. every
Tueday. For more information, visit the IVC website for more information under Student
Support.
My name is Javier Melara, I am the 2021-2022 Associ-ated Students Government President. I was born and raised in Mexicali. After finishing elementary school, I started attending school in Calexico, and I am a proud Calexico High School gradu-ate. I have firsthand experience and know the challenges of being a new student, of learning a new language, and I want everyone to know that I am here for you as we are all one community, one home.
I started studying at Imperial Valley College this past Fall 2020. Remote learning has been a new experience for me; therefore it is one of my goals to help students enrolled at Imperial Valley College have a smooth transition and ensure their experience at the college is enjoyable.
ASG has been instrumental in building my leadership skills and identifying my focus on life. Though the past year has been a hard year for many of us, it is critical to ac-knowledge that we can still find moments of light within all the dark. I wish you all a great academic school year.
As you embark on this jour-ney, please remember that no matter where you came from, where you are going, make your time at Imperial Valley College the best you can, and you can count on me to support you through the process.
Collectively the Impe-rial Valley Region-al Occupation Program, Project ACE and IVC's
Resilient Scholars Program provided 150 backpacks and supplies for foster youth students
at IVC and across Imperial County.

Dr. Lennor Johnson, Interim Superintendent/President |
As the incoming Interim Superintendent/President, I'm incredibly humbled and excited
to serve students, faculty, staff, administration and the entire Imperial Valley community
in this capacity.
I am committed to student success and doing whatever it takes to help students achieve
their goals, which is my absolute mission in life: whether that is identifying gaps
in services and closing them, identifying barriers to your success and eliminating
them, or recognizing policies, practices, and procedures that are not student-centered
and making them student-friendly. These are some but not all of my missions in life.
I am excited to announce we have implemented a Contact Center that will handle all
incoming concerns from faculty, staff and students, and they will connect callers
to the most appropriate individual or department to address the caller's needs.
They can be reached at 760-355-1826 or at contactus@imperial.edu. This information will also be posted on the website at "What Services are Open on
Campus."
I sincerely look forward to a great academic year and am working diligently to ensure
a smooth and safe transition as we navigate through these unprecedented times. We,
the faculty, staff, and administration, are committed to your success.
